16 April 2025 – SEDCO received a courtesy visit from Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS) at Wisma SEDCO.
The delegation from PETRONAS, was led by Puan Siti Ayu Haniza, General Manager of PETRONAS Sabah & Labuan Regional office, and was warmly welcomed by YBhg. Datuk Ar. James Wong, Group General Manager (GGM) of SEDCO.
During this inaugural visit, Datuk James stated SEDCO’s commitment to strengthen the partnership with PETRONAS and to further explore opportunities to develop relevant industries in terms of strategic business partnerships and corporate social responsibility (CSR) Programs.
GGM shared about SEDCO’s upcoming flagship “Bumiputera Entrepreneurship Program” that is currently in development by SEDCO. The program aims to guide Bumiputera Entrepreneurs through a step-by-step graduation program by giving them assistance in terms of financial literacy, knowledge to create their own products, leveraging on technology, as well as the methods needed to grow their own team and scale up their businesses to be able to generate a sustainable income for the Bumiputera community while assisting them to participate more in the economy.
SEDCO is enthusiastic to invite PETRONAS to join as a collaborator or partner for this CSR program based on their vast experience organizing similar knowledge-based initiatives through Yayasan PETRONAS and their on-going efforts to help entrepreneurs by placement of local products at their Mesra retail stores in PETRONAS petrol stations nationwide.
Discussions were also made in regards of potential partnership opportunities along the line of renewable energy or joint-venture into the proposal of a gas power station to generate electricity. PETRONAS shared about Gentari, a wholly owned, independent clean energy solutions company established by PETRONAS that focuses on providing integrated sustainable energy solutions. This opens doors to future prospective partnerships that can be initiated between PETRONAS and SEDCO to create more business opportunities particularly in Sabah.
It was a truly fruitful engagement between both parties and SEDCO GGM is delighted to open this channel of communication to explore new ventures and new opportunities to collaborate. Most importantly SEDCO wishes to do meaningful business together to build up our industries, our economy, and ultimately our beloved state of Sabah.
