SEDCO Chairman, Datuk Hj Mohd Arifin Mohd Arif presented the zakat to MUIS Chairman, Datuk Hj Syed Abas Syed Ali.
To date MUIS has received around RM19m Zakat Perniagaan for 2009 from corporate sector in the State, most of which are from Peninsula-based companies. MUIS hoped to see more State agencies and Government-linked companies to fulfill their zakat to enable the Council to provide more assistance to the poor and the needy. "Zakat would not deplete nor afflict your profit. Instead it purifies and reproduces greater wealth.” explained Datuk Hj Mohd Arifin.
